Today is an amazing day because I got the call!
It is “THE CALL” for which Rolex enthusiasts dreadfully wait – the call from your AD (authorized dealer) that a watch on your wishlist has come in and that you are selected to buy it!
Rolex is such a wonderful product with a customer base with insatiable demand that there is a line for popular products.
The Rolex watch that I got a call for is Lady Datejust – a gorgeous piece for my wife that we bought to celebrate our marriage.
We are so excited to start 2022 on such a high note.
Here is a few things that I have done so far –
I visited the store every 1-2 months to keep tabs on what is going on / what is available at the store.
I probably bugged my sales guy a bit too much on trying many different watches that I genuinely wanted – Cartier Santos / Tudor Blackbay 58
I have a single purchase history at this store – a Rolex two -tone watch. It is a treasure and I got so lucky because I walked in one day and it was available in store! It was a lucky day.
Otherwise it has been just me having fun at the store – like a kid in the candy store.
It has not been a long time since I got into watch collecting. Since then I have watched way too many youtube videos on watches, so far nothing beats Rolex watches in terms of simplicity and bang for the buck (if you buy at retail price).
I think Tudor probably comes second after Rolex – better than Omega in my view – Tudor design simply resonates better and I also don’t want to own a watch that loses a ton of value the moment you purchase it.
My next realistic grail watch is probably Tudor Blackbay 58 blue
